Short Description of Freedom Park Concert Series

(Scotia, NY) – The Freedom Park board recently announced 30 plus nights of free entertainment presented June 17th through August 26th with shows scheduled on every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday nights at 7:00pm at the Freedom Park stage located on Schonowee Avenue, Scotia across from Collins Park.

The 2015 Freedom Park summer schedule offers free shows in a family friendly environment with performances ranging from rock, country, classical, jazz, and blue grass. Capital Region R & B party favorite Funk Evolution kicks the concert series off on June 17th. New additions include fusion rock Stockade Kids, singer songwriters Anthony Fallacaro, Marc Berger and Jocelyn Arndt, bluegrass band Washington County Line, classical duo Cello Voce, and traditional & modern Celtic music from all-female Triskele. Several popular groups are back again this year including the Hair of the Dogthe Refrigerators, The Audio Stars, and SIRSY.  Children can enjoy the “Wizard of Oz” presented by The Puppet People. The traditional Jumpin’ Jack’s fireworks show will be held on Friday, June 26th featuring roots rock music by Snook Bros.

“Freedom Park has been a Capital Region summertime tradition since 1976, every year offering a variety of entertainment for everyone to enjoy,” said Nell Burrows, Freedom Park Board President. “We invite people from all of the Capital District to bring a chair or blanket and join us. Our Foundation members, sponsors, board volunteers and media partners are essential to keeping these free, quality shows coming."

This year’s Freedom Park season sponsor is Hannaford Supermarkets. Anyone interested in becoming a Freedom Park member is invited to visit www.freedomparkscotia.com and complete an application.

Parking is available at a short walking distance at the following locations: off Beach Road, Beukendaal Temple on Schonowee Avenue, and the First Reformed Church on Route 50.  Attendees are encouraged to bring low chairs or a blanket to use within the outdoor amphitheatre.  A dance floor is located just below the stage for those who wish to “boogie”.

Freedom Park is a non-profit organization. Free shows are made possible through the generous support of business sponsors, the Village and Town, Freedom Park membership and a grant from the Schenectady County Initiative Program.  Freedom Park was built for the 1976 Bicentennial Celebration.  Every year, thousands of Capital Region residents enjoy the free entertainment program.

The 2015 Freedom Park Concert series is made possible by Freedom Park members, community sponsors, and media partners TWC News (Time Warner Cable), B95.5 FM, Gazette newspapers and Albany.com.
