"Elf the Broadway Musical"

Ah yes, when Christmas is in the air and the stockings are hung by the chimney with care, we know those pesky little Elves are at the North Pole helping Santa build all his toys. They dress in neat colors and sing and dance to even neater songs, and this year they are wrapping up their Christmas right here in Schenectady. “Elf the Broadway Musical” is on the sleigh coming to town as we speak, and touching down at Proctors precisely on December 23. This play tell the story of Buddy, who secretly climbs in Santa’s bag of toys and takes a mystifying trip back to the North Pole with Santa and all his helpers.

Yes, this is “Elf the Broadway Musical”, arriving December 23rd at Proctors, and not a moment too soon for the Christmas season.  The show runs thru December 28th. After a world-wind tour that started November 10 that magically stitched together an average of eight delightful performances a week since then—a hefty big job even for the littlest amongst us—the Elves are finally resting here, at Proctors, and spending their Christmas with us. We were able to get in touch with Elyse Niederee, a lead Elf and dancer for the production.

Utah, Elyse’s home, is a long way from the North Pole, but she knew when she was just a teeny-tiny that she wanted to be an Elf her whole life. “Elf the Broadway Musical” is a great show, she reminds us. “It is the movie ‘Elf’ set to great songs and dance and an ensemble that cannot be beat.” We are introduced to great singing, ice skaters, and everything little Elves need to complete their task, set to scenery that promises to be breathtaking.

Elyse Niederee (Ensemble) Elyse is overjoyed to be returning to Christmastown to spread holiday cheer with the wonderful cast, crew, and team of Elf!

Elyse would like to thank MSA, her friends, and family for all their continued support. Enjoy the show!

“The entire show is about spreading Christmas cheer,” Elf Niederee tells me. And spending the Christmas season in Schenectady is something all our Elves are very excited to be doing. Of course, since this is their first time in Schenectady, I did have to let our Elves know that Proctors is one of the most beautiful theaters in the world, and is one of Schenectady’s own biggest little secrets.

“The Elves are coming to see you,” Elf Niederee adds, “So make sure you come out and see us!”
