Short Description of Trapp Family Lodge

The Trapp Family  Lodge

Stowe, Vermont

700 Trapp Hill Road  Stowe, VT 05672 (802) 253-8511

The hills are alive at the Trapp Family lodge in Stowe, Vermont. The von Trapps, whose flight from Nazi oppression was long ago immortalized in The Sound of Music, settled in Stowe, Vermont. After refusing to sing Happy Birthday to Hitler shortly after he annexed Austria in 1938, the von Trapps feared reprisal. They fled Austria, and sought out somewhere in America that would resemble their beloved homeland. High peaks like the Alps, where could we go? Stowe, Vermont was the choice they made, and the von Trapp family lodge was born.

The lodge today boasts five star accommodations and five star dining. We dined there, and the food was stupendous (You’re looking at a minimum of $50 per person). And it is no wonder the von Trapps chose beautiful Stowe. This place sits high on a mountain top with beautiful views everywhere you look.
