Lake George Winter Carnival
The Lake George Winter Carnival kicked off Saturday, February 6th, and was a great time for everyone. Kids got a kick out of walking on a frozen lake, and when a helicopter landed next to them, the excitement grew. Some sky jumpers climbed on and the helicopter took off across the lake–racing the snowmobiles on the ground, of course, in a race that appeared to be a tie. Moments later small dots appeared as the parachutests fell from high above... [Read More...]

A hot coffee overlooking Mirror Lake in Lake Placid? Or a view of ice fisherman out on Tupper Lake? Or a beautiful Saranac frozen over? The Icy Mohawk
Not that we’re going to see the ice jam on the Mohawk River this weekend…but maybe some of us will. Mother Nature unleashed her fury last week when she thawed this wonderful river, and, in the process, cast huge chucks of ice off her shoulders. She nearly flooded the Stockade and numerous little towns along her banks, as slabs of ice weighing hundreds if not thousands of pounds were displaced hundreds of feet from shore. Here are some... Niagara Falls
NIAGARA FALLS, Ontario, Canada The first time I saw Niagara Falls was when my father took the whole family to a bio-chemists’ symposium held in Buffalo, NY. I might have been in my mid to late teens; my brother was still a baby. I remember my mother had her hands full with us. My brother fussed and refused to eat, and I rebelled in my own passive-aggressive way. My mother told us later that she would never take us kids anywhere again. #gallery-5... [Read More...]

Santa’s Workshop is as close as you’ll ever get to meeting the real Santa. #gallery-6 { margin: auto; } #gallery-6... [Read More...]
